STG Export Volume takes Laserfiche volumes and automatically exports them on a batch basis. An “exported volume” can be reattached to Laserfiche, whereas a regular volume that would be on a tape backup cannot be simply attached, but requires time-consuming restoring. New features!!! - Empty directories do not need to be created pre-Export Vol usage as in the previous version. - All volumes can be exported at once by using "*ALL" for the volume name.

For example:
Insert *ALL for the volume name

Exportvol <repository> <username> <password> <volume name> <export path>
Exportvol myDB admin admin *ALL c:\myvolumes

This will export all of the volumes in your repository to the directory c:\myvolumes. Each volume will be exported to a directory using the volume's name. So, if you had volumes "Default", "Vol1", and "Vol2", the volumes would be exported to c:\myvolumes\default, c:\myvolumes\vol1, and c:\myvolumes\vol2 respectively.

Note: This hasn't been tested thoroughly and there are uncertain results with logical volumes at this time. A possible addition is a "*ACTIVE" switch that will export all volumes except read-only ones. Contact the Service desk if this is something your end user would be interested in. Exported volumes can conveniently be placed on DVD, for immediate accessibility and reattachment, without the need to restore via tape. A further benefit is that this automatic process can be accomplished as part of an overall batch process. It does not require an IT person to be present to oversee and interact with the program. This utility enables all Laserfiche data to be in an “export” format so if a recovery is necessary, the exported volumes can be attached, and the full database can be quickly rebuilt and brought back online. Using Exported volumes is also a good way to restore only a portion of the database. If a document is accidentally deleted, the only way to recover is to reload the whole database volume from tape. By using a recently exported volume, the particular volume containing the necessary file can be attached, and the file recovered quickly from there.
